Role Overview

As a Senior Electrical Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of electrical projects from planning and design coordination through installation, commissioning and final handover.

You will take responsibility for project performance, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required  quality and technical standards. Working closely with clients, consultants, engineers, site teams, subcontractors and suppliers, you will provide strong project leadership while maintaining effective client relationships and driving successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion and handover.
  • Develop and manage project programmes, budgets and resource plans.
  • Monitor project performance against programme, commercial and operational targets.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, engineers, site teams and subcontractors.
  • Oversee electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, design teams and other contractors
  • Manage project budgets, costs, forecasts, variations and commercial performance.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, performance and variations.
  • Identify and manage project risks, issues and change.
  • Lead and contribute to client, project and progress meetings.
  • Ensure electrical works comply with relevant standards, regulations and project specifications.
  • Drive safe project delivery and promote a strong health and safety culture.
  • Ensure quality assurance, inspection and testing requirements  are maintained.
  • Oversee commissioning, snagging and successful final project handover.
  • Maintain accurate project reporting and provide clear updates on project performance.
  • Support and mentor members of the project and site teams.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience managing electrical projects within the construction or building services sector.
  • Proven experience delivering projects from mobilisation through to completion and handover.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical installations, testing and commissioning.
  • Experience managing project teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, forecasting and variations.
  • Good understanding of contractual and project delivery requirements.
  • Strong planning, organisation and programme management skills.
  • Excellent client-facing, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to identify and manage project risks and resolve issues effectively.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Proactive, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant electrical, engineering or building services qualification.
  • SMSTS or equivalent construction site management qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2.
  • Professional membership, such as IET.
